We were delighted to organize a Tsim Sha Tsui community tour for postgraduate students and staff from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This immersive experience allows participants to delve into Hong Kong’s rich histories and transformations, while gaining a fresh perspective on the multicultural community of Tsim Sha Tsui.

Through interactive and multisensory experiences, participants explored the stories and history of Chungking Mansions, a landmark that embodies multiculturalism. They listened to the life stories of ethnically diverse communities in Hong Kong, and enjoyed a South Asian specialty drink. These immersive experiences deepened participants' understanding of diverse cultures and strengthened their connection with the local community.
“I am satisfied with the opportunity of learning the history of Hong Kong. Especially the origin and culture of ChungKing Mansion is really impressive, my impression of it has changed completely after this tour.”

Leaving the bustling area, participants visited the Kowloon Mosque, where they immersed themselves in the peaceful atmosphere. They learned about the lives of local Muslims, including their beliefs, customs, and greetings. During the tour, the Imam and our Cultural Ambassadors addressed participants' questions, enhancing their cultural knowledge and sparking a greater interest in the local multicultural landscape. This interaction inspired them to engage with and understand people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

“This experience reminds me that we should stay open-minded, respect others, and try to understand different cultures. There are significant differences between cultures, but despite these differences, we can still connect with and understand one another.”
Through the exploration of various landmark buildings in Tsim Sha Tsui, participants gained valuable insight into the deep connections between these historical structures and Hong Kong's development. They acknowledged the contributions of people from diverse cultural backgrounds across generations. This cultural community tour encouraged participants to reflect on how to foster mutual respect and inclusion within a culturally diverse university environment and community, empowering every member to thrive and making Hong Kong a more inclusive society.
