In a globally diverse community, fostering empathy and respect for various cultures is essential for building bridges and promoting harmony in our society. We are delighted to organize a volunteer and cultural experience for St. Joseph's Primary School, welcoming students, parents and teachers to join us for this enriching learning experience. By interacting with Cultural Ambassadors and volunteering, participants learned about the Sikh community, building empathy and respect while discovering the value of helping others.

During the interactive sharing led by our Cultural Ambassadors, participants had the opportunity to hear personal stories that provided insights into the daily lives, beliefs, and culture of the Sikh community. Additionally, they learned how to greet others in the Sikh Temple using Punjabi, adding an engaging language element to their cultural immersion, which they actively practiced during their exploration during the activity.

“I feel happy and inspired. I learned the difference between my life and the people who are here at Sikh Temple” - Student
At the community kitchen, participants learned about its mission and daily operations— centered on sincerity in serving others, as well as demonstrating the spirit of equality. Students assisted with ingredient preparation alongside community volunteers and parents, experiencing firsthand what it means to volunteer with heart. This hands-on involvement inspired them to realize that small acts of service can create meaningful connections and foster care within the community.

“I felt that the volunteers who prepare food are very hardworking. I learned to be more willing to do housework, to help my family members to share it.” - Student
Students shared that they felt a deep sense of satisfaction in serving others, enjoying smiles and warm responses from community members when they used the greetings they had learned. This experience deepened their understanding and left a lasting impact, allowing them to connect with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

“Very detailed briefing on Sikhism, students got hands-on experience to help food preparation and chat with volunteers in the temple. This is eye-opening and I understand more about Sikhism and their culture.” - Teacher
We appreciate the active participation of students, and the support of parent volunteers, teachers and Principals. Understanding and empathy are essential steps toward creating an inclusive society. This cultural experience plants a seed of curiosity and appreciation in participants, encouraging them to approach diverse cultures and communities with respect and an open mind in the future.
