Supporting NCS students to thrive at HKDSE and beyond

WEDO GLOBAL has initiated the DSE Study Group to provide support for Form 5 to Form 6 ethnically diverse secondary school students. Many ethnically diverse students struggle with Mathematics, leading to lower passing rates in the HKDSE. As a passing grade in mathematics is essential for University admission, WEDO GLOBAL aims to support the students who encounter challenges to better prepare for the HKDSE examinations.

“The positive classroom environment helped a lot and brought back my confidence while directing me. The way you broke down complex concepts and made mathematics accessible was instrumental in my ability to grasp the material.”

Student from Islam Kasim Tuet Memorial School

DSE Study Group: Mathematics focused

The Study Group offers an interactive and small-group setting learning environment for students. Tutors will teach and explain mathematical concepts, as well as answer questions from students regarding specific topics they need more support with, such as Equation of circles and quadratic equations etc. Students will be able to improve their mathematical skills in this focused and co-learning environment.

“One thing that really surprised me was how fruitful the classes were and how the whole class engaged together to solve maths problems.”

Student from Po Leung Kuk Ngan Po Ling College

Future Ready Workshop

Apart from academic support, students' all-round development is crucial. Therefore, we also arranged a variety of workshops to provide support to students for their further planning and development. The Future Ready Workshop collaborated with Project Empowerment (PEME) shared useful tips on further studies, CV writing and interview skills. Speakers from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds shared different education pathways, courses and their experience. Students asked questions and gained practical advice that they could apply to their future endeavours.

Open to a world of possibilities

We have also partnered with various organisations to offer learning opportunities for post HKDSE students to explore different career paths. One of them is “Honing Skills in Hospitality Programme”, which offers internship opportunities in the hospitality industry.

One of the students shared his experience working at The Peak Tramways, in which his major duties were handling guest inquiries and crowd control. Through this opportunity,  he was able to enhance his language and work skills. He also shared “everyone has their own way of working, it’s important to learn and understand these methods to improve and collaborate effectively”. After completing his internship, he got to continue to work at The Peak Tramways.

We hope to continue to provide support and guidance to ethnically diverse students throughout their journey, ultimately empowering them to achieve their academic and career aspirations, to become future multicultural leaders.
