Creating Connections Through Islamic Art and Culture
Updated: 18 hours ago
WEDO GLOBAL recently hosted an Islamic cultural workshop for HSBC Life staff, bringing colleagues together to explore Islamic art and cultural traditions through learning and hands-on creativity. Participants discovered Islamic patterns found around the world and here in Hong Kong, explored the cultural stories behind them, and learned about the significance of Arabic calligraphy.

The session combined cultural learning with hands-on creativity. Participants learned about Islamic geometric patterns and the cultural meaning of Arabic calligraphy and created their own cardholder. A highlight was writing Arabic words, giving each participant a connection to the language and its beautiful artistic traditions.

“I enjoyed drawing the Islamic patterns and learning the Arabic words, inspiring me to respect other cultures.”
Alongside cultural exploration, the workshop offered space to slow down, take a break from daily routines, and focus on a creative activity. Tracing patterns, colouring intricate designs, and practising Arabic lettering invited participants to engage with the moment at their own pace—bringing an element of wellbeing to the shared learning experience. Each cardholder became a personal expression of creativity and a reminder of the cultures they had explored.

“This was an interesting workshop, allowing me to know more about different cultures.”
Thank you to HSBC Life for inviting us to facilitate this workshop and for creating space for colleagues to learn, create, and celebrate cultural diversity together. Through shared experiences like these, we can nurture greater understanding, inclusion, and connection in Hong Kong.
