WEDO GLOBAL is grateful to be invited by Towngas and the Diversity and Inclusion Office of The Chinese University of Hong Kong to share at the launching ceremony of the Towngas Co•Uni Inclusion Programme. Sharing the benefits of cultural diversity and ways to facilitate cross-cultural dialogues in the workplace and community in Hong Kong allows participants to learn about the little steps that we all can take to facilitate a more inclusive society.
In order to allow participants to learn about cultural intelligence and experience different cultures, Towngas also arranged a session on making 2 dishes of Southeast Asian cuisine, including Malay Kapitan Chicken / Vegetable Curry and Paratha.
Ms. Ng, a CUHK student, said the atmosphere during the activity was good. "We had excellent interaction and sharing with other participants during the cooking process, enhancing mutual understanding.”
"The activity not only helps us learn how to cook but also deepens our understanding of the food culture of other ethnic groups,” said Mr. Tang, a Towngas employee.
Our cultural ambassadors also had the opportunity to share and exchange with the participants during the cooking session. One of our cultural ambassadors, Nayab said that “It is a meaningful activity. Paratha is one of my favorite dishes. The Programme enables more people in Hong Kong to appreciate Southeast Asian cuisines, which is invaluable.”
It is also a great opportunity for both ethnic minorities and the local Chinese to communicate and interact with each other to learn more about diverse cultures through cooking experience.
